James M McCarthy

Jim is an insurance professional with over 20 years of experience specializing in individual disability, life insurance and long-term care insurance.

Jim began his insurance career in 1992 at Blanksteen Economic Services, selling various disability and life insurance products to physicians and medical professionals. In 1995, Jim joined The Paul Revere insurance company as a brokerage representative, which was quickly merged into The Provident and, subsequently, UnumProvident (now known as Unum). During his final years at these carriers, Jim led the New York City sales office with annual production levels greatly exceeding $1 Million in individual disability insurance sales.

In 2004, Jim started his own disability insurance focused agency with Union Central Life and, shortly thereafter, expanded his carrier offerings to include all of the major products available in today’s market. Jim founded Empire State Benefits in 2009 to provide one stop shopping for all of an individual’s personal disability, life and long term care insurance needs. Empire State Benefits functions as a product specialist providing expertise and experience to guide insurance professionals and individual clients to an in-depth understanding of the various product offerings available in today’s marketplace.
